It does not bother me near as much when someone "honestly" does not see me. After all, I am riding a skinny little Sporty with one headlight(probably travelling at excessive speed).
HOWEVER-
It is the a$$holes that see me and just don't give a $hit. Example: Tailgaters- I waive soccer-mom back and she retreats. Then starts talking about the latest casserole over the phone to her bossom buddy and looses track of driving and back on my fender again. And it continues.... now those are the a$$-monkeys I want to beat to death with a wet noodle!!!! geezzzzzz!!!! "ya just can't fix stupid"[:@]

When out of the highway just consider yourself a lone fighter pilot in a sky full of bandits.
Absolutely! The worst we can do is to get relaxed while we ride, get "used" to the traffic patterns we travel the most. It's always best to "cover" the brakes and levers, slow down, at all intersections and side road crossings.
Lost a fellow rider 2 weeks ago, he and his wife, on separate Bikes were the victims of a Pick up truck who ran a Stop sign. They were riding down a 2 lane secondary Highway, at the posted speed of 50mph, they could see the truck approaching the stop sign, the Wife stated she knew the truck wasn't going to stop, she was slowing down, ended up laying the Bike down, some road rash and a broken shoulder. Her 50 year old husband, he T-Boned the truck at 50mph, Coroner said he died instantly. Always ride the Cagers are out to get ya!
Man just last weekend we had one, very similar. Bike wound up burned to a crisp, the rider was air lifed to Harborview in Seattle, the pickup had the front fender torn off. Shut down the road for 2 hours or more.
People definately dont tailgate me as much and dont ride right next to me as much since I put on some new pipes...Save lives or not...Im definately given my space now that I have louder pipes. I guess its hard to hear your cell phone when your riding next to a loud bike...
Wont go so far as to say "They save lives"...But I feel more comfy with my space!
