Long weekend....just waiting on the ISO pegs and grips to get here on tuesday and I'll be back on the road. Also gotta get a new grinder (mine took a crap on me this weekend). New tank and a custom made sissy bar comin in a couple weeks....hand polished the fenders and fork tubes as well...
Nope, I painstakingly hand polished them, lol. it took a while but it paid off I think. I decided to do the whole bike in a raw finish and go with an old bomber theme for it.
I'm liking it. Are you going to leave the fenders uncoated? Not sure where you live, but I would think a clearcoat on top of the fenders would help prevent corrosion. Looks good regardless.
Actually, I'm gonna paint some "panels" and "rivets" on everything (just waiting on the new tank) and a pinup on both sides of the tank, then let it set for a week or two to get a SLIGHT surface rust going, then clear coat it. It will have that old vintage Bomber look once it's done. Also dabbin a little peroxide here and there to age it a little faster.
For all the accents and tins we're wire brushing anything left shiny and wrinkle blacking the rest. Got a bunch of rebar that we're building a nice lookin low-rise scorpion tail sissy bar out of. I should have pics of all that by next week or the week after.
