I’ll show you what I did. Mine is an ‘06 Custom so it originally had that super fugly chrome pullback riser/speedo combo. I ditched it many years ago for some short stock risers and speedo mount off another Sportster. I elongated the speedo mount bolt holes so that I could mount the clamp right on top of the triple trees.
....snip....
Nice pics, looks good. As can be seen, the top triple tree eyebrow mount can be used for the mount. The "stock"
location is the top clamp. Obviously, in either location, a new "old style" type top clamp is needed.
I guess you could relocate the speedo to the side of the frame using the Autometer mount, but
IMHO you'd still need to remove/replace the "stock, all-in-one" handlebar mount....
Found a pic from where I used the billet clamps on the stock risers on top of ~1" riser extentions,
old style handlebar clamp and still using the eyebrow mount for the headlight....
Hi, I'm looking for options, ideas , inspiration, for a DYI or low tech, or cheap bracket , or repurposed bracket or what not to move the speedometer over the eyebrow or flat over triple tree ?
It's a '17 883 IRON stock
the auto meter clamp is attached to the front left gas tank bolt and unless u make a different bracket,u will have to lean over to see the speedo....search blockhead on youtube and then search gauge install and review.if you do decide to use that one,you will also need some EZ-FUZE tape to wrap around the gauge to protect it.best damn tape i have ever used.has a 500 degree rating.good luck
