Sleepneagle...you must have had this problem b4...right on the money. Rode my son 2-up Sat afternoon b4 going off by myself when I noticed problem. Must have happened then.
The wire is not broken but is rubbed and was touching and grounding the blinker switch...now if I can get my fat fingers in there to fix it...
its the wire, can see bare copper. Moved it away from the fenderso that it would not short and the blinker now works...thanks all, I'm going t sneak out in a few and fix it while my sons go to sleep so I can ride tomm...
Guess there are advantages to the wife being in the desert...I cannot hear her saying anything about me working on the bike...
Now that you all have had fun... There is retaining clips on both sides below the rear fender that holds the wires from the tires. They can pinch the wires and ground the hotwires to the fender. They are on both sides just back of the blinkers. Loosen them and rearange the wires and recheck while doing it.
10-4 on the clip Dallas, i have been having trouble keeping the blinker tight. Every time I try to tighten it the stud turns with the nut, so I have to take the blinker reflector out and hold it from the inside to tighten it. To do so, I have to pull slack wire from under fender and must have not gotten it back in the clip well when I put it back together.
If I could get the dam* thing off I would put locktite on it, but I cannot even get it to loosen enough to remove it...aggravating SOB...I hate hearing it rattle...it will not tighten at all now...
