Looking for some help! My bike used to slow crank, and then finally the dreaded starter click. I ended up replacing the factory battery with a performance battery from Harley. Got it back to the house, and installed it. The bike would slow crank and then eventually click, and now when I turn the bike on the fuel pump will prime but when I hit the ignition the bike cycles off (all lights and everything turns off for a few seconds then pump primed again) any ideas? Checked starter connections for corrosion, checked the plunger etc etc in the starter, contact point in the starter are fine, bikes in neutral. I cant for the life of me figure out why it cycles off now.
Put an VOM on the battery and see what the voltage is with the bike off, then what the voltage is with the bike on, then what the voltage is with the starter engaged.
That should give you some valuable information and tell you if there is an issue with your battery or starter.
Additionally, even if it is a new battery it could be bad. Take it and have it tested for CCA listed on the battery to see what the reading is, may have an internal short or be sulfated.
The starter and charging system isn't part of the drive train per se. I would be inclined to talk to your dealer about them looking at those parts under warranty, assuming you haven't messed with the wiring.
Ive never had to deal with HD warranty, but I also know they would have to prove something you did was the cause of it not working properly. Adding a filter or exhaust is not going to mess with the factory electrical system. At the very least they could possibly diagnose the problem and refuse to warranty the work?
Side note, your chain looks to have quite a bit of slack.

All they have to do is deny the warranty claim, they don`t have to prove a thing to you.
Then you can hire a lawyer (using your own money) and fight them in court.
They might refuse to work on the bike, as modified as it is...
That is the reality.
OP:
The starting system is very simple to troubleshoot and repair, follow the sticky in the forum, or the process in the service or electrical diagnostics manual.
If you are going to do work on the bike, you gotta have them both....
