Default Primary cover chip/grind

So took my cover off to re thread clutch cable and noticed a chip more like the chain rubbing on the cover. Has anyone seen anything like this?
I check everything and chain and gears look fine.
also it’s from a 2010 48

oh okay makes sense. Well hopefully my cable being stripped was causing my clutch to act up when shifting

Has nothing to do with the clutch cable. ADJUST THE PRIMARY CHAIN.

I just adjusted it and I’m still having this problem.
bike feels as if it is not fully disengaging and doesn’t want to go into neutral also shifting is hard. I must be doing something wrong but this is the second time adjusting it

What steps are you making for the clutch adjustment?

How are you making the primary chain adjustment?

im adjusting the clutch from the derby cover turning it till I feel resistance then backing it 1/4 of a turn
and the chain with 1/2 a inch of play

i also just noticed the lever not feeling like it’s fully engaging maybe the reason why I’m having a hard time finding neutral.

So before you do the bit under the derby cover are you making the cable as slack as possible?

After adjusting the release mechanism are you then adjusting the cable for 1/16" to 1/8" of play in the cable?

Before you do the chain are you finding the tightest spot?

In other words are you following all the steps in the factory service manual?

only thing I messed up on was I did not release the tension on the cable before adjusting clutch.
so I will do that once I get home and update you everything else I have done by the Manuel

so after doing all the correct steps this is the problem that I noticed after a 20 min ride. So the clutch lever would sometimes feel soft almost like no tension then it goes back to feeling tension. Came back to see if cable had play and it did have more play then when I adjusted it so re adjusted it and play is where it should be. If I’m correct seems like my cable is stretched or frayed ?
