Default Suspension Recommendations?

Gonna start with rear shocks, my buddy recommended Legend but I wanna make sure the $$ is justified. They’re doing a ton of construction on 95 up my way and maybe a 20 mins of a 2 hour ride tore my *** up. Need to make a change.

what year bike ?? This has been discussed a ton but IMHO, a set of air shocks off a road glide is the best bang for rear shock comfort.

01 sporty. I do a lot of long rides through tough roads, but I don’t wanna necessarily lose performance for sake of comfort. Looking for a balance

Might be best bang for $75-$100 if you're on a budget. But since he mentioned Legends it's safe to assume he knows they're $$$$. So I'm guessing he's willing to pay for premium parts.

OP,
IMO,...don't bother with anything less than 13". More travel = more better. You could buy a $1500 shock set up but if there's only 2" of travel....you're still going to jar your spine.

I have Bitubo 13". Priced above Progressive but under Legends. I'm 235lbs and very happy with them. However I feel like I could use even more travel,...but after 13" it really starts to jack up the rear end which causes front end issues. Maybe I should just lose 50lbs? Nah!

I’ll check them out. Another friend tried to get me onboard with the ohlins but I’m trying to stay all American. And yea, I’m 6’1-2 210 and it’s grilling season so I’m not dropping to 195 any time soon haha

Pro-Action is supposed to be good and is another USA option. I don't have any experience with them, just read DK's suspension report.

If you want American also check out Race Tech and maybe Fox(?).

I tried the incremental avenue to save money. Bought mid level Progressive's. Better than stock but not great. IMO you gotta spend $ here if you're on the heavier side.

I run 444 11.5 inch heavy duty with heavy duty front springs and a super brace fork brace i like a stiff ride for solo riding and makes for comfort 2 up.
i am 5 ft 8 in 195lb i do have the sundowner seat so the heavy duty is not bad

I have the Ohlin's HD 716 13 1/4 inch rear shocks, from Fuel Moto.

I'm very happy with my 13-in Harley-Davidson emulsion shocks that I got take off of a 2016 roadster. Those coupled with longer damp rods in the front have been good for me. Overall the bike will sit up at least two more inches front and back. I just can't see spending tons of money on fancy suspensions, The value is not there for me Good luck!
