I had some work to the bike done in January, including tidying some wiring up, and rode it back home. A few weeks ago I started it up no problem. Last week I tried to start it and all I got was the alarm going off. I initially thought it might be the battery so I replaced it (it wasn't great anyway) but that made no difference. So I checked the wiring, swapped over both relays, checked all of the fuses under the battery, and changed the immobiliser batteries (they were low too). The only thing that changed is that the alarm now doesn't sound.... The fuel pump fires up but it doesn't turn over.
Oddly when I was checking loads of things (including the levers in the RHS controls) it did fire up once, but when I tried again it was back to normal - fuel pump turning over but no turning over.
Does anyone know what this could be? I saw a forum post that was similar suggesting it could be the immobiliser antenna or the tilt switch, but this is probably outside of my skills.
Oh, and to make matters a bit more complicated, the previous owner doesn't know the immobiliser pin code, and it would be difficult to run the manual diagnostics on it either as there's no speedo/instrument panel, nor indicators on the bike.
You should start by giving all of the information about your bike.
Without a HD or compatible speedo you will be in a world of pain should you need to enter the PIN code. With the speedo and a working fob you will be able to recover the PIN code. And clearly you cannot see if there is any codes set.
Where abouts are you?

You can buy an adapter at Amazon and elsewhere that will enable you to connect an automotive OBD scan tool to the 6 pin HD connector...a 4 pin version is available too.
Bluetooth types that talk to you phone are out there also.

It's a JAN 2007 883 XL; I'm in the UK. I did try to provide some relevant stuff by saying "to make matters a bit more complicated, the previous owner doesn't know the immobiliser pin code, and it would be difficult to run the manual diagnostics on it either as there's no speedo/instrument panel, nor indicators on the bike" in the initial post.
I don't think a speedo is required for the MOT. Annoyingly, I've managed to reconnect the old speedo but that doesn't seem to respond - no lights coming on, the mileage not showing etc.
Yes oddly I've just had another look at the RHS controls. It looks as though the switch is encased in though.

I can see you are in the UK but a bit more specific and someone close to you might be able to offer hands on help.
