Default Brake lines

Hi y’all…me again

so I was able to order new clutch idle brake and throttle cables.
It was going well until I got to the front brake line. The bolts wouldn’t come off and don’t appear to be stripped. They also don’t look like normal 6 sided bolt. Does anyone know how I can get the bolts off or if I just have the wrong tools for the job. Or is there a way I can just cut the existing brake line (I wasn’t going to save it anyways)? If I cut the brake line will all the brake fluid pour out?

let me know if you have any solutions

1. Knowing the year and model of your Sportster would be useful.
2. The banjo bolts should not be an issue to remove.
3. If you cut the brake line fluid will come out.
4. You may have the wrong tools for the job, not seeing what you have for tools and what you are trying to remove puts one at a disadvantage.
5. You may be trying to take the wrong bolt off.
6. The banjo bolts on the brake line to the master cylinder and the brake caliper are normally standard six sided bolts unless someone changed them.
7. Pictures of the bolts would be useful.
8. If you are trying to remove other bolts on the caliper or caliper bracket, they are 10mm 12 point.

They are probably 12 point banjo bolts. Use a 12 point socket, or a box wrench. IIRC 10mm or 7/16" will work. I think the MC bolt is bigger than the caliper bolt, so try a few wrenches to find one that fits tight. My bike came stock with 12 point banjos, but I changed the lower one to 6 sided when I put on a Wilwood front caliper.

I very much doubt that cutting the brake line will make it any easier for you to remove the banjo bolts.

You could try using some penetrating fluid and shocking the bolts using a soft mallet.
