Been looking for a set of the 7" long Harley 47313-07 Damper Tubes for a Sportster.
Want to lower the forks on my daughters bike. We are not having a very easy time finding them because
they have been discontinued. Anybody know of a good source for NOS parts? I have a ad on the Wanted to buy
section, maybe I might have some luck there with somebody from the site. Thanks.....
If it was just a inch I might do that but we want to drop 2".
Her bike is a Custom and we want to get down to Iron height.
Shorter Dampers equals less travel...Me no likey
Drop them the 1" in the trees
then...If willing to give up travel.. remove lower legs, remove spring and dampers... cut 1" off springs... Place the 1" cut off under damper. drop damper in assemble, replace lower legs, with short springs in... Simple ...cheap... reversable, If ya Buy new springs, or simply stack them...
I think maybe the XLT aka Sportster Touring models have the shorter ROD.
Anyways I get u want to lower the bike, but geez its already pretty low.
Are doing it for "show" so it looks low, or for seat height?
Could also get a Harley "reach" seat for shorter riders.
IMHO Lowering the suspension is gonna suck i so many ways....except if you really want that "slammed" look
The Custom model has 2" longer Forks than a Iron model. If I lower the Custom 2" it will be the same
height in the front end as a regular Sportster. I am doing this because my daughter is 5'-3" and weighs 100 lbs.
We are building a bike to fit her so I can get her off the Ninja Sport Bike.
Not looking for peoples suggestions about lowering the bike. I was just looking to see if anybody has a source
for NOS parts.
Already looked at those. The second link is for 7-1/2" Tubes.
The first link, is a long story. See that there was 1 sold? That was me.
The seller sent me a special offer on pricing, but was for 1 Tube only.
Asked him to send me a Invoice for 2 Tubes and he never responded.
Anyway, no longer looking for the Damper Tubes because I just purchased
a set of the 2" Lowering Progressive MonoTubes for her bike.
