I'm a patient man but you know what annoys me? Having to hold in my signal switch while I'm concentrating on keeping an eye on traffic, the driver behind me, throttle control and making the turn. Do the newer rides have signal switches that stay on until you click them off? ( I have an 82 Sportster ). I think having momentary signal switches is not only dangerous but discourages the rider from using them. Is it just me?
Yes the newer bikes not only have push on stay on turn signals they are also self canceling. Don't know of an available upgrade but logic would say there is one. You'll have to do some research or see if you get a better answer.
Look up Badlands turn signal module and find what fit's yer ride. Got one for me 77 XLH1000 years ago. PIA with arm signaling right and trying holding in T/S button.
My own experience with self cancelling turn signals is not good. We have roudabouts here, lots of them.
The general rule here is as you go past the exit before the one you want you indicate left to show your intention to exit. So at this point the bike is leaning right and the left indicator is on. (For right drivers it would be the opposite of course.)
Now you start to stand the bike up because you have finished going round but are now getting ready to turn left. The indicator has just cancelled! That must be so confusing for people following me.
Do they think I have changed my mind? For those waiting to enter the roundabout they don't see any signal. Do they think I am still going round? This stops them and holds up their progress.
In summary self cancelling indicators of the HD kind are not so wonderful in the real world where there is roundabouts.

Combine those old style signals with a foot clutch/tank shift/manual spark advance and you might as well just give up.

I never rely on my turn signals self-cancelling; I always press the button again after I've made manoeuvre to cancel the flashers manually.
I do sometimes find it awkward using the right-hand turn signal switch when operating the front brake and the throttle all at the same time, it might just be that I have sausage fingers and thumbs, just like King Charles III has.
