This is the riser on a Custom. It is clear the extensions can only go on one way, I am not sure where you think there will be a gap?

The only thing the OP needs to decide is with extensions the bars will also be moved closer to the rider but with the angle of the yokes it would probably happen if the extension was put on first.

Here's what one member did (years ago). As suggested prevously, he cut
another stock riser and added it underneath his stock riser....

The extensions that you are talking about only go in the bolt/clamp area. You would end up with a 2" gap in the center section of the top clamp where the indicator lights are.

Indeed there would be a gap but that is for the OP to decide. I didn't link to them but just saying they will fit. It is how risers work though on any other bike. On my stock bike there is a small gap between the bars and top yoke.

I agree with putting the riser below as pictured. I originally posed the question about longer bolts but as someone has done it it can be made to work.
