I sir have twice the power of what my bike came with and the 1200 gearing doesn't even come close making the bike dog out.

As delivered most H-D products are probably under geared for optimum acceleration through the quarter mile.

My 1974 74" FXE for example needed much taller gearing, (I don't remember exactly how much now, but it was a lot) because what you are ultimately trying to do is strike a balance between rotating the crank mass and accelerating the complete bike if that makes sense?

With a Harley it's usually easier to gear it up and let the crank mass work for you instead of against you!
The "crank mass" does nothing to increase the torque or power of the motor. Nor does it allow you to run a taller gear.

It basically diverts some of the energy being produced by the motor into storage, leaving less to accelerate the bike. On decel, that stored energy is released, slowing the deceleration rate.

Read again, because I never said that or even suggested it!.. I was making a point about gearing only.

Have a try at explaining why upping my FXE gearing from stock resulting in better quarter mile times and higher top speed.

The 1200 gearing still isn't up to par with the bigger bikes so stop acting like you guys are giving up a left ********.I could easily give my bike more gear than it already has.

I'm putting out more power than a stock 1200 came with and I don't hear any of the 1200 guys bitching about the gearing.

Since you’re always boasting about having more powa than a 1200 bone stock bike I found this for ya. Congrats on your build that makes more powa than a stock 1200.

Do you even know how much powa you make? Or are you just assuming? Because a dyno will humble you in a split second.

Continue on with your gearing rants
