Default Denim paint and powder coat maintenance

I recently got 2009 Nightster and am looking for any tips and recommendations on what products to use to clean and maintain denim paint and powder coated engine case?

Any sticky dedicated to denim maintenance that I can review?

This is what I use from chemical guys, I used it first on a bike, but also have a flat hot rod truck, they also make a flat wash.
Chemical Guys SPI_995_16 Meticulous Matte Detailer and Spray Sealant for Crisp Satin & Matte Finishes, (Safe for OEM, Vinyl, & Painted Matte Surfaces) 16 fl oz https://a.co/d/c3TPNp1

you will need micro fiber towels to apply this stuff not paper towels

Search the detailing section of the forum.
May want to post your question in the detailing section: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/detailing-27/

@eaglefan1 will probably have some insight on the denim paint as will others.

H-D do a denim paint cleaner, the part number is 93600127.

They also do an everyday detailer, the part number is 93600158.

A good cheaper alternative for cleaning denim paint is Windex window cleaner, it is a lot cheaper than the H-D denim paint cleaner and the results are just as good giving a clean streak free finish. You can also use white vinegar, that is what I use on my Iron 883, I've also used car window and mirror cleaner with excellent results.

For detailing the wrinkle finish engine cases, I use black pack car bumper rejuvenator, I pay only Ł2 for a 500ml can here in the UK.

I hope this has given you some ideas.

Tank Paint - Windex does work.
Yet, as mentioned, there are specific denim care products.
Note: Less contact with a cloth (eg reduce rubbing) to dry/ clean
is best as you do not want to polish denim paint.

Case Powder - ???
The grey cases? FWIW I never found a product that works, at
least in regards to oil stains. I recall many threads on this subject.

Enjoy your N

Your denim paint uses a different coating that diffuses light as opposed to a normal clear coat. So use cleaners made for matte/denim paint, and I agree to use micro fiber cloths. Using window cleaners are okay, but I'd use an alcohol-based cleaner. Some of the suggestions above are good.

Don't be tempted to use wax, Armorall, polishes, or anything used for normal paint.

I agree about not rubbing the matt paint surface, just wipe the cleaner off as and when required using the micro fibre cloth, I have seen lots of denim paint that has been polished to a shine by the owner, that's not how one wants their denim paint to look.

I bought F11 from Top Coat for my '07 with the denim paint. I never did use it though, the greyish look kinda grew on me.

The stuff is a protectant and will also bring back the black. Oil and the like will stain the denim paint. There are videos on this stuff if your interested. I still think about using it for the protection, but the grey looks kinda good.

I use Windex when I need to clean the paint.

Thanks. This has been super helpful. Just curious, on the windex does it have to be without ammonia?

I did a quick search and read on the ammonia issue. Supposedly in a 2010 HD manual it says to use glass cleaner with ammonia on the paint and without on the windshield. I have been using Windex Crystal Rain no ammonia. Either should work fine on the paint.

For washing it said to use grease cutting liquid dish washing soap. Dawn original is my choice for this.

See if there is anything in your owners manual about this?
