I don’t think it’s the VR if your charging at 13.4 to 13.6 on a fully charged battery that’s normal. It’s the same on a car/truck.
What voltage should my Harley be charging at? Note: if your meter is reading anywhere at or above 13 volts you are in great shape. Remember, your Harley is a 12-volt system, so just above that means it can keep up. 13 volts is the point where the battery is not discharging with all your accessories on.
I was told by Harley themselves that when the bike is above 2k rpm’s I should be at about the 14v but no higher than 14.5v the stator is fine it’s putting out 32v both pins at idle. The battery is good as well. I tested my grounds yesterday and they might be a little dirty but all read the same as the battery with no huge differences. That’s why I’m lead to believe that it is the vr because that’s the only thing left that I couldn’t just unplug and test the pins on. At idle my battery barely stays above 13 volts it’ll drop back down to just under 13 volts and jump back to 13 over and over again. And when I’m cruising at lower rpm’s the bike stutters and dies. I really don’t know what else this could be other than the regulator slowly taking a ****

I’ve also read that if you had a **** battery in the bike before and constantly tried jumping it and starting it that it could start to make your regulator go bad. I had a bad battery before I got a new battery at Harley and that’s when I started having issues. It was about a week and a half later that it shut off on me the first time. So I think maybe going from a bad battery to a fresh good battery could have caused it to fail on its last limb. Am I making sense or do I just sound dumb
