Well someone a-round here was saying they got 20 years out of a battery. Don't know if it is true or not, just have to consider the source.......
20 years from a battery seens far fetched to my mind.
My stock H-D battery lasted from 2011 to 2018.
Numax cost Ł55.00, lasted from 2018 to 2022.
MotoBatt cost Ł63.00, installed in 2022 and still has plenty of cranking power.
Battery life has to do with: /usage- /enviornment- /maintainance.
How its used, what its being used in/for, where its being used (cold areas, hot areas, dirty or clean areas, etc.), and how well its being cared for makes more of a difference than anything else. What may last 10yrs in one place may only last 5 in another. I dont take too much stock in peoples battery claims.
My advice is to just buy a quality battery thats easy to fit and connect.
My friend and I both did not care for the MotoBat. My 20 size and his 30 size both had issues cranking the bikes over within a year. Yes we both know how to keep the machine and the battery working. I was really disappointed with it, I had read very good things about MotoBat, hell I told my friend to get one. Maybe we both just got bad ones??
Took a chance and put in a Wicked Start from the Amazon and it has held up fine for 2 years so far. The batteries from Battery Mart that have been mentioned would be a good choice!
Your stock battery hasn't lasted long, I got seven years out of mine even without using a battery tender.
My battery didnt go bad. I just figured it was cheap insurance to replace. I do keep it on a tender. Im an old guy, and just dont trust batteries over 3 years.
Be aware there are two different Duracell batteries: one gray, one black. Gray is made in US, a little more expensive, and has better performance than the other.
I had a car bought from new and kept for for 10 years that still had the original battery. There was no evidence it was struggling to start the car. Who knows how much longer it may have lasted.
I replaced my original 2014 HD battery after 7 years. It still cranked the bike but the initial hesitation had gotten kind of long. I probably could have gotten even more useful life out of it had I been inclined to do so. I replaced it with another HD battery. I figured if the OE unit lasted that long, it would be hard to go wrong with another.
