Default 2007 Sportster 1200 xl

I'm having some trouble with my Harley and I am not to sure if it is limp mode or tranny problems. The bike will crank perfectly and go over 1500 rpms. But it want take off fast or go over

45 is it possible that the transmission is my problem

My wife got pissed and pushed it over on the right side and it lays there for 10 min before I seen it

Being on it side should not hurt it unless oil ran out

1500 rpm is barely off idle. Not a tranny. You would not be going 45 mph at the idle,I would think.

@Konvikted Harley rider I have moved this thread from the Welcome section to the Sportster Modelssection as you will get better responses to your question in this section.
The Welcome section is more for introducing yourself & letting other forum members know what Harley Davidson you own. Please feel free to post a new thread back in the Welcome area to introduce yourself.

Konvikted, I am not sure if a 2007 Sportster 1200XL has a limp mode? Is it mentioned in owner's manual?

Make sure both oxygen sensors are hooked up. Read the codes in odometer display and report back.

You have time to edit threads. Read back thru them a number of times. Close is good enough but make sure it's what you want to say.

Sounds like you have bigger problems than just the Sportster. Good luck in 2025.

There is really nothing to do with the transmission on the right side, now the left side you could have damaged the shifting mechanism. Have you checked for any trouble codes? Any damage to the fuel injection throttle body? Did the air cleaner hit anything? It sounds possibly throttle/intake related, maybe dislodged the manifold and throttle body? Check throttle cables and the throttle barrel for function.

1. If it went over hard and hit the Air Cleaner, it could have possibly damaged the induction module or other parts in there.
2. May have damaged the throttle control assembly also. Close inspection will tell the story.
3. Probably not the transmission as the shifter is on the left. If you can shift through the gears the transmission is fine.
4. If you are going to work on your motorcycle, get a HD Service Manual so you know what you are doing, otherwise, take it to the dealer.

NOTE:
The above information, while credible, is worth what you paid for it and should not be considered gospel.
Do due diligence, research and have a H-D Field Service Manual before working on your bike.
You will probably have many opinions and suggestions presented; make sure you research the person providing the helpful information as there are some who provide good information that is useful and some who speak out of other orifices with gibberish. You will figure out this quickly.

We can only fix Sportster here. . But I have been married since 1968 and my advice is she is more important and whatever you do, don't push her over.

You do that and you won't have a Sportster or probably even a Pot for that matter.

Konvikted, we'll work on the Sportster. You work with the wife.
