Default Rear sprocket hardware

Good morning. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my rear cast wheel (1995). I'm getting new hardware to reinstall the sprocket and noticed there was a flat washer and split washer on each bolt. In the service manual and on Ronnie's, they do not show a split washer, just a flat washer. I believe the manual said to use 262 loctite (don't have it in front of me). Does anyone else have split lock washers on their setup? I'm leaning toward following what the manual shows and omitting the split washers.

IMO - proceed w/ red thread locker & N/A on split washer. You should be good.

Red Loctite is a high strength permanent compound, better off using a blue Loctite like 243, is is semi-permanent and dismantleable if the pulley ever needs replacing due to damaged teeth.

The split lock washers aren't required so long as the bolts are torqued to the H-D recommended value.

Well...keep in mind you're dealing w/ rear drivetrain & I personally wouldn't rely on lower-level thread locker. Yes red's pretty solid, but can be broken loose.

I think that's why the manual calls for red 262 instead of something like red 271. Easy to remove 262 than 271, but keeps that strong vibration resistance.

Sounds good. I'll omit the split washers and torque to spec with 262. Thanks!
