Took a ride for the first time with my new forward controls. WOW! I don't see how I lived without them!
For all of those out there that haven't switched from the stock mid controls - you should do so now!
They were easy to put on (besides one little issue that I got around with the exhaust port gaskets and header), and it makes a HUGE difference in riding comfort.
I only rode about 10 miles but I am already use to them!
I purchased these off of Ebay. The only problem was that the instructions sucked. It consisted of one piece of paper that looked to be a copy of a copy of a copy, etc. (not the original). The picture they had wasn't even usable, so I had to go by logic and my service manual. Not difficult, just frustrating trying to figure out what to use where. (Not to mention the fact that I couldn't even use two of the hex bolts they sent me... had to use my originals. No biggie - they're on now and I'm cruising in comfort!)
Thanks to all who suggested forward controls over new handlebars!
Enjoy the forwards. They're new to me, also. I did get a little bit of the "wind up the pants" effect for a few miles on an open stretch of road. Must have been the way my jeans were situated over my boot.
I don't get that "wind up effect" -- I guess bc I wear shorts a lot when I ride.
Yes, I had to remove the exhaust from the front-most jug to install. The ones that I bought seem to have a bit more chrome to them, but the ones you list look just as good. Just so the quality is there, which you really (unfortuntately) cannot tell until you start putting them on.
I bought mine from PowerSports Outlet Store on Ebay. Here is the description:

Here is a Brand New Set of2004 - 2007 Sportster Forward Controls.
These showchrome plated forward controls are complete assemblies for both brake and shifter sides. They come complete with pegs, levers, linkage and hardware. You do not need to purchase anything else, just bolt them on.
Oh hell yes. Forwards are a must. Much more comfortable. I'd like a couple more inces though. I still end up on the back potion of the seat after a long ride . And I'm only 5'9. Hmmmm[:@]
Has anyone ever put forward controls on with highway bars ? Well what a mess I got myself into. Made the mistake of ordering the controls with an extra 2". You would think the mechanic would have said something because it just doesn't work. I would have to wear a size 22 shoe with 6" platforms to shift. The highway barsmake it impossible to adjust the pegs.I guess the biggest mistake was trying to go cheap and get after market parts and not go to a harley dealer. Well now my bike has been unusable going on 2 weeks and they are still waiting for the new part to correct the problem. This is so frustrating.

I don't have extended forwards, but I have standard Harley forwards (they are actually a little short) and I put on a mustache bar for stretching out farther. It all works pretty good. I can rest my ankles on the forward pegs and then the ***** of my feet on the cruise pegs. Very comfy.
