I have been hearing rumors about legislators proposing bills to stop people from putting on aftermarket exhaust. I wondered if anyone else has heard of this, and what the proposed requirements are? So far I have heard less than 70 decibels within a 50 foot radius of the bike. I understand some people like to carry on sometimes, but come on! I think before we have to get rid of our exhaust, the kids with the tuner cars should have to get rid of their garbage can mufflers, and stereos.
I believe most places already have noise laws for stereos but I still hear a lot of tub thumping going down the road in front of my house.A law is only as good as it's enforcement!!
They recently passed a motorcycle noise law in Lancaster PA. HOWEVER, You are only in violation if you're really opening the throttle, and it only applies to city limits, not any of the rural areas. So the law here is more of a nusence, I don't like to ride through the city anyway, to many stop lights and not enough curves

So, you're suggesting becoming part of the problem and not part of the solutiuon????
I am not concerned about the preposed muffler (noise ) legislation, unless my state adopts a yearly vehicle inspection law which we do not have at the present.
I very seldom see a cop on the street, I hold it down in the neighborhood in the AM when I go to work.
I think its all about common sense while you are riding, but if you got ear bleeding... HEY LOOK AT ME ... loud exhaust on your bike ,I don't feel sorry for you.
Well I guess I do cause your going to need a hearing aid in the future.
I never ride downtown here in Vancouver, we have cops in the summer to test exhaust noise level, especially harley, $140 fine. I seldom ride downtown, not a poser myself.
