Both my 2007 and my 2016 have a lot of ticking/clicking but no tapping. Plus the sewing machine sound; and even that depends on whether synthetic or dino is in the oil tank.

I would assume that's a bad lifter so I would start there. Pull the rocker box and see if you can depress either of the pushrods by hand. With the rocker box off you can inspect the rockers as well. Even if you can't depress the pushrod it could still be a bad lifter.

There is too much going on here to fix it online through a middleman.

The owner needs to take the bike to a reputable shop.

First, he needs a manual. Next I'd check for a lifter that isn't pumping up. If not there then try and isolate where the noise is coming from- top end, bottom end, primary, cam chest and go from there.

That's what I'd start with.
