As far as the saddlebags, you can put the Harley touring saddlebags on most Sportys with the (very expensive) brackets by CycleVision. The nice thing is you can still have the passenger pegs. They come with a bottom bracket, replacing the OEM passenger peg bracket that has mounting for a peg clevis. They mention using Drag Specialties clevis to install your pegs.
I was considering these for my '11 Custom, as I upgraded the saddlebags on my '13 King to the newer saddlebags and still have the original bags.
Yea in this area about 90% of the sporties for sale are bobbers of one sort or another. I will be nice and say that bobber bikes are not my cup of tea. So I will be looking for pretty much a stock unmolested bike. Some mods are ok but I have no plans to try to redo someones "bar hopper" into what I want to ride.
Glad to hear you're on the mend! Best of luck and do all your rehab plus a little more each time if you can. There's a Sporty out there somewhere looking for a home!
Yea a low mileage 1200 T is pretty much what I want. I say pretty much because I am torn between the HD style bags or the adapter kits to put on a set of touring model bags. They look better and lock better. But basically a 1200 bagger, lol.
Allow me to put in plug for LeatherPros. They hold more than the touring bags and (in my opinion) look better than anything else.
They dont lock like the hard bags, but you can use a zipper lock. A determined thief can get in either one.
These were the bags I had on my last Sporty. Bought it used and these were on the bike, but I don't know the brand.
And I will definitely add two thumbs up for LeatherPros! These were the ones I had on my Super Glide. Seriously great quality, and you can pop them off to take into the motel room or whatever.
Glad to hear all went well with the fusion.. 6 weeks will pass pretty quickly.. Good luck finding the right Sporty, there's a **** load of the out there.. I've been looking myself and am consider an 04 up, they had better flowing cylinder heads..

Thanks for the advice/suggestions on the bags. Tons of styles to pick from on the bags. Idahohacker thats a sweet pair of HD's. I have pondered on a SuoerGlide from time to time. They are like a Sporty on steroids. Similar size with a bit more passenger room and a 6th gear, which is no small issue. For me the only negative for them keeps coming back to the weight. I know the center of gravity is considerably lower than my current ride, but I am also a realist. My legs were already losing some strength due to my age and the years of back pain, but this downtime is costing even more strength. I am hopeful I will get back to at least pre surgery strength, but would like more. Time will tell. Am in no hurry to sell the BMW as, out here anyway, the bike and car sales are still very slow.
The dealer I traded my Ultra Classic to still has it on his floor. That was over a year ago. He gave me $6K for it and has it up for $10,999 but it has over 72K on the clock. Seems to me it might sell if it were up for $8-9K. I know he has to pay bills but a year? My beemer was a brand new '23 model and I got it in July '24, from him So bike sales here are slow. I only owe under 4k on the beemer and am fortunate enough I could easily pay it off but the loan was 0% interest, so why? I can actually make money by keeping my cash in the market. I say this THINKING I might just pay it off, keep it and look for a sporty. I use my "allowance, lol" to fund my bike projects. Not sure how the household CFO feels about my idea though. Lol. We've been married over 51 yrs and her wisdom has kept us with our heads above water so I do not take her opinions lightly.
