Hi all, its been a while. Still working on getting back to a sportster. I had the beemer up for sale for weeks, and not a single inquiry. so I removed the ad. I only used craigslist as it was a crummy time of year to list anything, right before Christmas.
It will be relisted in the coming months as soon as I am well enough to ride.
I had spinal fusion surgery on Jan 13th, so it will be 6 weeks, min. Everything went as planned on the surg so they expect the same on recovery. It was a pretty big deal.
Anyway I am more determined then ever to get back on a sportster, but the beemer has to be sold first. No way around that, it is what it is. No hurry for me. I owe less than 4k on the beemer, and its a zero interest loan so no reason to hurry or rush to lose money.
Just wanted to keep you guys in the loop and let ya know I haven't forgot about ya, and hopefully ya haven't forgot about me, lol.
Good luck with the recovery - and rehabilitation.
As someone who also experienced a catastrophic injury (dr's words- not mine)- the rehab can be the most difficult part.
Keep up with the rehab- and you'll be back riding soon!
There's sportsters out there- waiting for you when youre ready!
Take care!
Yea a low mileage 1200 T is pretty much what I want. I say pretty much because I am torn between the HD style bags or the adapter kits to put on a set of touring model bags. They look better and lock better. But basically a 1200 bagger, lol.
Yea they are what I had on my '07 Sportster. They came unlocked twice on one trip. Lost a jacket liner. After having the Ultra classic with the new style lever opening, I got spoiled. One thing I am not sure about is I THINK those kits require the loss of pass foot pegs, which is a no-no for me. So bike first, then I will sort out the bag options.
At this point I would have to say it's all in what the condition of the whole bike looks like and not be too concerned in mileage so long as the owner can give you receipts or assurances for its service history.
We have the knowledge of how bullet proof they are with cacomly's blogs.
Its a tough time to sell a bike right now, but its also a great time to buy one. Theres tons of bikes for sell which has pushed prices down as well.
I listed a very nicely modded Sportster back in the summer and it took 2 months to sell. I listed it at the same price as most of the same bikes I saw for sell and ended up taking less than what I hoped to get for it.
One tip Id give you is list it on Marketplace.
Craigslist is not as widely used as it used to be and Marketplace has a huge user base.
