Default What's it worth

I have a 2012 XL1200C with 2839 miles. I have come to the decision that I don't ride it enough to keep it in the garage. The reason for this is too many surgeries. Retirement from active duty is kicking my butt. I keep the fluids changed, it never sleeps outside. Stays covered inside the garage and gets polished a lot. What do you sell it for is the question? At 14,. it's not new, but the mileage is still in the break-in range.
This is not a for sale listing. It's a question, your assistance would be helpful.

Here's what AI says:

The average selling price for a low-mileage 2012 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom (XL1200C) typically ranges from $5,000 to $6,500. Pricing varies by condition and location, with pristine models occasionally reaching up to $7,000 to $7,500.

Thanks, I looked at KBB and they agree with you. I guess the question is real world values. Any personal suggestions. I will not be offended .

Best to check prices in your area on CL or FB Marketplace.

Too bad it doesn't have ape-hangers. If it had apes, I'd be interested. Just for kicks, here's the Custom I totaled last year.

In my area of the Black Hills / Rapid City SD areas, that bike would probably be on FB for around the $6500 - $7500 range. Maybe even a tick higher to the $8000- $8500 ranges. Not sure how many sell in those prices, but it is what many are listed at. Bikes are higher priced in my area and surrounding areas.

Good luck selling it. Keep it licensed and insured.

Personally sold many car, a few boats, few bikes and even two houses.

When it time for them to go, didn't make it personal. Got a NADA and a Kelly Blue book fir the vehicles.

Decided on my ask, wrote it down along with a what I would accept.

Ever week, after the adds got going, I would lower my ask and my accept. I ran multiple ads in the local paper, Craig's list, Ebay and Facebook market place.

All sales local only, busines taken care of in my local Credit Union and Monday thru Friday daytime showings only.

If someone tried to get me to accept less than I wrote down, I would tell them check back in a couple weeks.

Everything I sold was clean, maintenance up to date and if it had issues like say on a car, no AC, that was clearly in my ad.

I never had a problem.

However, sale of a bike is risky. Get a picture of there driver's license. Interview them and make sure there trustworthy to drive off on a test drive.

If they break it, your probably going to be stuck with a lot less if insurance pays for it.

Good luck. I would not sale another bike now in these crazy times and at my age. I gave my last one away.

My buddy buys and sells bikes. Mostly dual sports, in the $3-4000 range.

He won't let anyone test drive unless he has full cash payment in hand before the ride. If someone is serious, that should not be a problem. As Randy Moss put it, "Straight cash, homie."
