Today I pulled the sporty out for a little ride. It was 59F. Man she did NOT want to run. It actually sounded like it was running on one cylinder and the RPMS were extremely high. Anyone have any ideas if this is normal (Being a 1250 Conversion)? After it warmed up it was fine. When it was an 883 it did this a bit but not this bad.. damn!! A cold hearted bitch she is...
She wouldn't be happy in my neighborhood. I'm looking at 30's & 40's for part of the run to Reno/Street Vibrations through West Yellowstone. Dyna ran great coming back from Minnesota in the low to mid 40's. Get her some long underwear (it comes in black, have even seen some heat reflective chrome stuff, too).

When it was an 883 I rode it when it was 28F a couple of times and many times when it was 35-45F. It never ran this rough. Im callin my indy tomorrow for a pow wow.
When you made the conversion I"m sure that you had the carb adjusted. It could be that because of the new adjustments, when the choke/enrichiner is in use, it runs a richer or leaner fuel mix. Maybe too much.
Mid 40's here this morning with heavy fog for the whole commute into to work! Had to throw on the chaps and the liner in the jacket. Mine ran just fine. Could be the carb as Bigtop1 stated. [&:]
I hear ya Jonny. I think I have it narrowed down to an ignition problem. I think it's a bad coil. We finished off our 500mile run with 35mins in a torrential downpour doing 55 on the highway. It was the worst weather I have ever ridden in. I literally could not see 15feet ahead of me. I got a feeling this had something to do with it. I am going to do some messin with it after work. I will surely post my findings.
Plugs look good, going to do a spark test first. My indie thinks it may be just water where it shouldn't be. If the spark is good I will do a compression check. We shall see.
Just an update on what it is doing.
Starts hard. When it does start, sounds like it's firing on 1 cylinder and intermittently backfiring on the other. And the idle is extremely high. Almost sounds like it's idling at 3000rpm. This is with the enricher pulled out of course. Even after I let it warm up, 5 mins it still runs like this...
its getting cold around here and i notice the bike not running so great from cold either, i idle it with the choke for as long as it takes for it to idle without it, (usualy less than a minute) and leave the left side of the motor facing the sun, helps it warm quicker, may be just my area that the sun is out in the mornings
Did the spark test (Check), pulled my plug wires and inspected them (Check). Pulled the leads to the coil and found a little corrosion so I cleaned them out. Found a little something interesting underneath the triangular chrome cover on the left side of my bike. One of the little modules was popped out of its bracket. Not sure but I think it was my tilt sensor. Re-seated that, put it all back together and BAM she runs perfect. So, it must have been one of those things because she is back to full power Cap'n! I went and ordered the Screamin' Eagle Ignition and coil anyway.. ;-)
