I need some new grips and have been looking at the local shop. Just holding them in my hands in the showroom hasn't helped me decide. Any suggestions on good comfortable grips - comfort over looks (to a point). Thanks.
I've heard great reviews on the Kuryakyn Premium Iso Grips, so I ordered a pair. They're arriving tomorrow and I'll have them installed tomorrow night. I'll let you know what I think.
Another great feature of the Kuryakyn grips is that you can get them with the "Throttle Boss," basically a little 'wing' (Go Hendrix) extension that allows your palm to rest on the throttle and hold it in place to give your wrist a break. You'll see it in the photo below. The Premium Iso grips come with the Throttle Boss for cheaper than if you bought the Throttle Boss and grips separately. I purchased mine from Charlie's HD in WV for $59.96 (Kuryakyn Part # 6212)
Kuryakyn's Product Description: For the rider who demands the ultimate in comfort and style, KĂźryakyn offers the Premium ISO-Grip. This grip combines the state of the art vibration absorbing properties of the standard ISO-Grip with the fatigue reducing comfort of our ISO-Throttle Boss.
Because of their unique removable end caps, this is one of the only custom grips available that may be used with stock air reservoir type handlebars. ISO-Grips will fit all Harley-DavidsonÂŽ models with dual cable throttle controls.
Almost every Harley owner I know has ISO grips, they must be good.
Here is mine, HD chrome and rubber size medium.
I have the same grips on mine. My only problem is they need new rubber. In high heat they get kinda gummy feeling. Thinking of switching to the ISO's myself.
The first swap outI made when I bought my bike was to Kuryakyn's ISO Grips with Throttle Boss. Best thing I ever did (of course I seem to say that about my seat swap too -lol!). Anyway, you're gonna love 'em!
Hated the Iso-Grips. Always felt sticky... too much chrome not enough rubber. Anyway, what is wrong with stock? To me, the stock grips are some of the most comfy there are. Are they the wrong size, look, what is it you don't like about them? That might help before people give you their opinions about what you should buy next...
I have the Kuryakyn Flame grips and a Throttle Boss. They are very comfortable...even though I have small hands. The Throttle Boss is WELL worth the money IMO.
