Default Engine breather

Hi guys, i installed a few days ago a " generic engine breather " to get rid of that PITA oil from the air filter but now when i ride the bike for a couple of miles thers a lot of engine oil coming out from the top cover of cilinder number one, i wonder if its just a bad gasket and now with the breather kit, oil is justtrying to findan easy way out and found that gasket...If you know something please let me know...

Thanks for your time.....

I must be one of the lucky ones. changes my air cleaner to the se one and have never had an oil leak problem. did you make the breather kit or or was it something you bought?

I made the breather kitmyself and to tell you the truth it is a really good job, just bought the conections and some breather hose at a local store and it is super good, now i just have to deal with the oil from cylinder 1, by the way, i have the SE air filter with the K&N air filter...

Sounds like rocker gasket blew a leak. As long as the breather you put on has little to no restriction to vent to the environment, then the breather most likely has nothing to do with the leak, just a coincidence that it happened now. Although if there's too much restriction on the breater it can cause momentary build up of high pressure in the heads, which can lead to gaskets blowing out, but ussually that would take plugging the breather holes for that to happen. Anyhow depending on where exactly it's leaking.....at the very top you'll have 2 rubber gaskets for the upper rocker covers, a fiber gasket for the rocker-to-head (these have been replaced with more reliable metal gaskets now, if you buy a new one), then a fiber/graphite head gasket at the top of the cylinder where it meets the head. That lower rocker-to-head gasket, if still a fiber gasket, are highly likely and known to fail, so if you still have those on there, I'd recomend changing both front and rear cylinder rocker gaskets to the new style metal gaskets while your at it. But like I said, it's most likely not related to the breather you put on, just coincidence. Just replace the gasket that failed and your good to go.

Thanks guys, i really apreciate your time, it looks like its leaking thru the center of the top cover, were the " hole" is, i will take it apart and see what is going on there...
