Default Engine Starter Problems

Riders!!

I have problems with my engine starter of my XLH 1200 Sportster year 2003. After starting the engine, it keeps runing!! I believe is the start button but I'm not sure....Does someone has had this type of problems before? Is the start button the problem or it could be something else?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like your starter relay is sticking.

x2 mine went out on a '06 model. The batter cover rubs the relay. They changed the location on later models.

My guess would also be the starter relay.

cHarley recently replaced his starter clutch, I'm sure he'll weigh in here on this one soon.

I guess If you suspect the starter switch and you want to try and fix It youself, then you could try to short It out, either at the switch or the starter motor....not sure how feasable this would be though.
