Default Fitting Drag Bars

I am looking to fit a set of drag bars to my 2007 XL1200C. Is it as straight forward as just replacing the stock bars or is there anything else to do i.e. buying new cables etc.

Not sure about the '07 but it was just a matter of changing bars on my '96

I changed out my bars, and it ended up being MUCH more than I had anticipated. Of course, part of that was that I changed out the headlight as well and had to relocate gauges and speedo.

I suppose the main issue would be whether your cables will still fit. May come up a little short or may have a little extra cable depending on pullback and width. The only other thing I can think of, is that if you're going to change the bars it's always a good time to bury the wires inside them!!!! whole new can of worms!

mine is an 05 1200c and the only mod im aware of that you will need besides just buying the bars is a turn signal relocation kit..ive had mine done for for a while and just did the bars last night..

I dont think that you will need anything but the bars, and maybe a new hand grip for your left side depending if your gips are glued on or not. As suggested before, running the wires is always nice. I ran wires through my apes and it took me about 2-3hrs. You will need a sodering iron, soder and some heat shrink. Just a suggestion, it really cleans up the bar area.

i've got an 081200N and before i put the the 4 in. risers on, the drag bars fit on the stock risers with out any mods, except for repositioning the brake line so it didn't hit the gas tank. hope this helps

Just put 6 inch risers and drag bars on the sporty and I had a little problem when I was trying to stretch the wire for the speedo I yanked it out of the harness but I lifted the tank and reran the wire to the right of the frame and it slipped right in
