Hey all-
New to riding and the forum, just bought my first bike, a 2008 Sporty C. My question is this- Barring comfort issues, is there any problem with riding the bike when it gets colder- 25-30 degrees? My morning commutes are getting cold, but the evening ride home is great. It's a fairly short ride, 15 minutes, non-highway. Thanks for the help.
Tim
Other than comfort, you shouldn't have any problems. The bike will take a little longer to warm up but with EFI that should be no problem at all. My only transportation for 2 years was a bike, and they run in the cold weather just fine. Staying warm is what can be the challenge.
You do have to modify the way you ride somewhat... or at least I do [8D] You have to be a little less aggressive in the corners, and more wary of making quick adjustments. The ice is certainly an issue, but also be aware of the fact that the tires are colder and less sticky. Your bike will actually love the cold air.... If anything it will run stronger!
I do alot of long- distance road bicycling, and my cut off there is 10 degrees as long as there's no ice. So I guess 10 degrees.
oookkkk , that settles it!! you are DEFINETLY more of a man than I will ever dream of being!!!!
the obvious ice, wet conditions, manholes, brigdes, yadda yadda yadda..... \
but, also them dang cagers who don't look for scooters thinking you would have to be outta your mind to be riding in conditions they deem "defroster land". if they determine the conditions are beyond what a biker should be out in.... watch out
Just remember, the temperature might be above 32 but that little riverlet of water running across the road (especially in the shade) could very well be ice.
also the temps seem to drop at the bottom of hills and the faster you go the greater the wind chill.BBBBRRRR I wont ride if its under 55 degrees. Of course i dont have leathers or nothing yet neither. Plus i ride 40 min. to work on highway
