Hey guys,
i was told by my HD service guy that my Roland Sands mini apes may rust. He also said he's pretty sure it's fine that way. I personally like the look of the rusty metal. I'm cool with it as long as the rust isn't damaging my bars significantly.
Bars are less than a month old. A majority of the rusting is on the front facing part of the bars. Actually looks killer, matches the theme of the bike well IMO.
Do you guys know if i should treat this rust? Or is it alright to just let it be? Like i said i dig the look of it so if it's not harmful i'd like to leave it be. Here are some pics. Also, i snapped off a few new pics right before a friend and i went for a burn. Getting new, proper fitting shorter cables/line real soon.
That's a lot of cake to pay for something that rust that fast. You may like the look now,but like was said above, if it starts to pit you might change your mind. I would be PISSED![:@]
maybe cover it in some kind of clear coat, that way it will keep the rust at the point it is now. Just an idea, but not really sure. i agree, i like the rust look though
There are some products that will stop the rust. They come in spray paint cans and can be found a most auto parts stores or even Home Depot.I think Rustoleum makes 'em and maybe Duplicolor. They work and will stop the rusting process. They'll probably need to be painted afterward.
If you like 'em like that they'll lastpretty long but eventually they'll get to the point of no return
