Default Battery Tender

Does anyone have a good how to page or something on how to hook up a battery tender onto a sportster. I got the seat off of mine and side panel off, but it looks like to get to the Negative End of the battery, it has to complete come out

I recently used the Search feature and easily found that information. There are a lot of posts. Limit the search to just this forum and you'll find your answer.

You can connect the negative terminal wire to any point screw/bolt on the bike frame.

You can purchase the 'harness' and attach directly to the battery, and then you won't need to remove the seat each time you want to use the tender.

I have them (the harness) on all my bikes, and it sure beats the old days when you had to constantly remove the seats.

The 'harness' costs less than $10, and is the best thing since sliced bread.

SeanS, it you have the harness, the negative harness wire still does not have to go on the negative battery terminal. It can go to any ground point on the frame. You only need to connect the positive wire to the positive battery terminal.

Do you have an alarm system on the bike? They will drain the battery in just a few days.

I just installed a harness on my battery.I was able to slide the battery out enough to hook the negative right to the battery. A bit tricky not having much room to get your hand in, but it can be done with some patience.

I don't have a battery tender, but I installed a similar pigtail plug for my heated gear. I installed the negative wire to the ground where the negative battery cable is bolted to the top of the crankcase. Then the plug is tucked awayunder the seat and out of sight, unless I need to plug myself up.
