I could be FOS, but isn't the drill bit that comes with the Dynojet kit for drilling out the EPA plug? Read the instructions. A Stage I set-up probably doesn’t want a bigger low-speed jet.

From my experience, don't go overboard. Stay to the lean side initially and open the mixture screw a half a turn or so. That will help with the cold stumble. You may just want to raise the needle a bit by putting a couple of shim washers under where it sits in the diaphragm. Thats what they do with the Riceburners.

Good time to put one of those nice shinny carb tops on it too. And get rid of those cross-recessed screws while you're at it and put some socket head cap screws in there.Top and bottom. Get stainless-steel ones and they won't galvanize in and it will go easier the next time you go in. If you want, you can polish them on a grinder with a rouge wheel and the look better than chrome.

At least you only have one to dowith a Sporty. My other bike has four carbs and then you have to synchronize them.

Get a manual if you don't already have one and enjoy yourself. The"professional" at the shop probably isn't as bright as you are, and doesn't give a sh*t either.
that is what i am thinking. the only thing that worries me is that Hooker told me to change both of them
With your pipes and A/C combo I will bet you will need BOTH jets.In fact, you likely will need the pilot (low) jet more that the high jet. Listen to Hooker

They will have those jets. Just specify those sizes in the remarks area when you order it. Many peeps here have used these s0rgys kits.

Im saying to stick the 180 size jet in there with your setup.
so i should go 42/180?

Every situation is going to be different depending on where you live (altitude etc).

The one thing that seems to be standard is the bikes are lean from the factory. Put a high-flow AC and mufflers in there you lean it out more. So you need bigger jets to let in more fuel. But how much bigger?

The idle jet controls idle and slight throttle
The main jet controls wide open throttle.
The needle controls the in between

With my bike I put a 45 idle, I used the dynojet needle and shimmed the needle with 2 spacers (maybe 3 I cannot remember) and left the main jet alone. 175 was fine for me. I had it all checked on the dyno. Bike runs great. A 180 jet would have been too rich at WOT for me.

Moral of all this is every bike is different.
