won't start!
hi guys, the problem I have is themotorcycle won't start,I'am getting fuel in the carb, and spark to the plugs, but it still won't fire up. oh, also new plugs and a new battery are in now,the kill switch is on, I'am at a loss to figure this out.this my first harley had triumph's an hondas.
How long has it sat? (how old is the oil)
What grade is the oil? (20w50, synthetic, brand)
What has the temperature been while sitting?
I'm assuming by "won't start" thatthe starter spins the engine but the spark and fuel are not getting it on.
2004 is a carb bike & if you did not use fuel stabilizer, did not run the stabilizer into the carb, and it has sat for more than a week with temps 20*F and below then it is simply old fuel, cold oil on the flywheel and a cold machine overall. It will take a lot of tlc persuation to get the spark to ingite the fuel to the point of turning over on it's own. Nothing wrong with the machine, simply cold blooded.
Your Hondaz & trumpets probably used a much thinner oil than 20w50, 10w40 is much easier to start with temps below 60*F.

First winter or two having my carbed dyna here in Ohio, after it set for a month or two I would go out to start it to give it a good warm up and charge the battery, no stabilizer, no tender. I thought I needed to give it afew good twists and full choke. Seemed to have to turn over quite a few times before it would fire. Tuned and oil change before winter, stored at 40 degrees. Talking to an older biker gentleman from town, he says it's been tuned before you put it away so just start it the way you do if its warm out. Damn, fires right up no matter how longit sets.

Gas into the carb doesn't mean gas into the cylinders. Try a shot of spray starter fluiid into the throat and see if it fires.
Good luck
