I have a standard 883, but am tempted to change to forward controls. What would the wise ones on the forum suggest be changed on the bike? It has a Mustang wide vintage seat, which is a bit higher than the stock I think.I've only had the bike since Dec '07,so would not call myself the most experienced rider out there; I do ride it to work though, and that's in very busy highway roads, what would sitting in proper Harley style be like in heavy traffic?
Personally, I don't care for forward controls. I like having my feet directly under me. Now, for comfort on the highway, I do like to have highway pegs for that. That way I can stretch out. But even then, if I want to shift myself around on the seat a bit, I can still do that with regular controls under me.
I have forwards & wouldn't want to be without them. Traffic isn't a problem as far as they are concerned. It just makes the riding position more comfortable.
I have highway pegs (in addition to forwards) for the long trips.
