I finally ordered the HD aux lighting kit P/N 6928505 and halogen Bulb kits P/N 68208-98 for each, and a halogen lamp for the headlight.
I'm concerned, however, of running this setup with my existing stock charging system. I can't find specs that show thecurrent draw of this aux lighting kit.
Anyone here know? should I upgrade the stator? One dealer said it would be fine - not much additional draw at all. ANother said too much.
Your voltage regulator is the weakest link at 20 amps max. If it were mine, I would not use halogen bulbs which draw higher amps than stock bulbs. I would use PIAA lamps which have a very high lumen output and draw about the same current as stock bulbs. Your aux lights will also need a seperate fused circuit run back to the battery.
Thanks cHarley. So you think the stock regulator won't be pushed too hard if I run stock lamps? I haven't researched a bigger regulator. I'm not trying tomake this a huge projecthere, just want to be more visible.

With stock lamps or something like the PIAA's which don't draw any more than stock bulbs you should be fine, but don't plan on plugging in much more, especially heated clothing.
You will still need the seperate fused circuit run back to the battery for the aux lights however.
Stock, the load on the regulator is around 12 amps.
