Default Parking Etiquette?

I work the night shift... not too many cars in the parking lot when I show up at 11:30pm.I show up, park in the first row of spots, right in the middle of my spot. I don't want some guy with a Prius or Mini deciding that he can fit in next to me.

My shift ends about9 or soand all the daywalkers are already there. If you show up late, parking can get tight.

Lately, I've noticed this guy with aHondawho "helps himself" to part of my parking space. Now, I don't usually mind sharing with a bud... but I have no clue who this guy is. To make matters worse, he squeaks in and leans his bike so close to mine that I have to weasel mine around to get it out of the spot. I almost bumped into his bike this past time. (What I wanted to do was shove the thing over... but not only was that not very nice, it alsowould have scratched the car next to my spot who didn't deserve it.)

Anyone else had this happen, repeatedly? Am I being too high strung about it? I just don't want my bike f'd up or live through the drama of damaging someone else's crap.

Park diagonally across the front portion of the spot.

I park diagonally in the middle of the spot so I send a message to stay the **** out of my parking spot.

Depends on where I'm parking. If I'm at a place that is likely to have another biker ride in, I will park to one side, and leave room for another bike to comfortably "share the space". If, I'm at the Grocery, Hardware Store....place like that. I park in the middle of the space.

I thought the diagonal parking thing would get his attention... but he squeezed in-between me and the car on one side.

I'm probably going to leave a little note. If that doesn't work - I may just have to stand by the window and watch. [:@]

Diagonally park, but stay to the back (or exit) end of the parking space. That way you can't get blocked in. If that doesn't keep him out, leave him a note and politely explain the proper way to park, or park somewhere else. If that doesn't work, turn it into a basket case.

Yep, it's diagonal at the end of the space for me.
