Today is a beautiful day. Figure I would go out with my brother for a ride. I have a 2007 nightster (purchased new last year). I take care of the bike, always let it warm up prior to riding. It has been modified with the addition of race turner, SE air filter and short shots.
The bike has recieved all service internals to date. The bike currently has 3300 miles on it. The bike had its oil change for the season last wednesday.
I started the bike up as I was about to depart and I hear a very distinct sound. It sounds like metal bouncing around from inside the engine.
I am fairly mechanically inclined but relatively new to the harley world. I am not sure what it could be at this point. I am sure it could be a variety of things. I will search the boards and see if any one else has such an experience with a new bike but I dont have any good terms to search with at this point.
Its just frustrating. It is so nice out right and I am behind a computer. ARRRRG!! I think I saw a sign from this whole ordeal. When I purchased the bike, it was a decision between the bike or a Factory Five cobra kit. I chose the bike at the time. As I was sitting by my broken down bike, a nice cobra passed by. :-).
I hope everyone else is taking advantage of today. Its perfect riding weather here in the North East.
I hear ya, my 06 smoked a stator 2 weeks agostill under warranty but the dont stock parts probably another week or so. With service like this no wonder HD is having problems, and watch they'll blame labor costs.
I'll bet! That metal you heard clunking around was a fastener from your SE air cleaner. I hope for your sake a dealer installed it?
It happened to me on my 07 "N" , destroyed the front cylinder,Head and piston.
The SE air cleaner is a POS!!! Very Bad design!
Good Luck, let us know how you make out
I remember that Mark. It really sucked. Thank god the dealer fixed it!
Yep, I couldn't believe it! I can't believe they still sell them POS!!!
For you other guys. The HD heavy Breather is a good unit and looks cool as hell. It has a metal plate that covers the screws that backed out on the SE unit, so it can't happen with the HB
