Default 160/80-16 Kenda Tire Mounted

OK, I know this will generate a lot of comments because tire brands are like oil brands, but for those that want to know here's my experience. Sorry no pics yet, I will post pics later.. I have used Kenda tires for years on all my bikes from Honda V65's and Goldwings to my dirt bikes... Well, I bought a pair of the K673 KRUZ tires from American Motorcycle Tire. Removed the 21" spoke wheel and replaced with a Thunderstar 19" wheel. Mounted a 100/90-19 front and 160/80-16 rear. Damn that tire not only fits good but looks good. I will get some pics tomorrow when its daylight and post but right now you'll have to trust me that you can fit a 160 width tire. Now I always mount my own tires and the only problem I had was getting the bead to seat, however I've had the same problem with original size Dunops... Just spray a little brake cleaner or carb cleaner into the tire and light with a lighter..woosh... tire bead seats like magic. I couldn't be happier with the fit and look. I'll post pics soon for those that want to see them.

Sounds like a very similar story. Nice choice of wheel also.

Wow, almost like we did the swap together... And yes, you too have good taste in rims.. Took me awhile to find the right deal but finally found a deal on the wheel I couldn't pass up. Mine may not look as good as yours but it looks faster... LOL only cause my bikes black.. CHarley, it looks like you paved the road for the rest.. Kudos...

I just put a pair on my bike, too. Can't wait to see how ell they wear. The ride is great. The price is well worth it. I got 15k out of the Dunlops......

How far back in years can you go to fit a 160? I was told at the harley dealership I could only get a 140 on the back of my 1993 XL 1200

Here's afew of pics of the front and rear tires on the bike. Back tire still has almost a 1/4" clearance between the inside fender bolts and the tire. Damn I'm glad I went with the 160...

Not sure about pre 04 bikes.. I'd guess you can only move up one tire size on the rear...

You were waiting for this, but nobody bit... When I was a younger guy riding whatever I could get cheap (couple Honda CL450s, a CB500/4, etc.) I tried Cheng Shin, and found out why some folks called them Cheng Sh*t. I didn't think it was physically possible to have a HARD compound that wore out QUICK. Slippery things, they were, too, but dirt cheap. I wonder if they've improved. I do try to buy things made by my countrymen these days when I can... just my small contribution (I work in manufacturing).
cheers! Mac
