Yes.... Installing the fuelpak is a pain in the ***. Like widgeon said, just take your time and it will be alright.

Well when I installed my fuel pak, I also installed a spring seat..so I just relocated it in the rear of the engine compartment. Works great so far..wrapped the ECM in heat tape so the pipes wouldn't be melting anything. Work great so far..have about 1k miles on it and still running!

Taking your time and having patience is right. It will fit how the directions say. Big thing is make sure the connector over the battery is facing the correct way. It's a tight fit but can be done. You'll befine.

Also make sure the cables are warm. I was trying to rearrange cable harnesses when installing my power commander in a 30 degree garage, yeah... bitch.

Can't you just go to the dealer and have them tune the ecu?? or do you need to have some type of fuel management for them to tune it?? I have the fuel pak and I can't say I'm too thrilled at it's function. My bike runs mint but every now and then, not often at all, I get a back fire[:@] If I could do it all over I would have searched for an alternative route. After the pain in the *** that thing was to install I'm ****ing leaving it there till I have to replace it, Or if I swap to some other type of pipe other than V&H I'll toss that piece of crap in the garbage.

I was looking at the Power Commander instructions and it makes it seem like you just drop the new platic base in and throw the Power Commander in it. That sucks that it does not fit that great, or is it the wiring that is the problem?

As to installing the FuelPak, I read what seemed to be every post, watched the video multiple times. V&H says it will mount between the frame rails above the battery, the guys who have installed them say take your time it will fit. Ok, here is what I found out, they are all correct, here is what I learned, run the wiring exactly like they do in the video, on the right side of the harness, the connector that is the pain in the butt will fit like they say, there is a bundle of wires that runs along the bottom of the backbone, you need to just grab hold of that bundle and pull it tword you, it would work better if ya do it in a warm room or day, so they give a bit, then take that connector and push it up and back behind that bundle of wires, under the Y the frame makes, and it will fit right in there. The batt strap fits back into place, the batt will slide back in, and you're done. Took me 2 hours and I scratched my head awhile before I got it, does help to watch the video so you see where they slide those wire looms through, but that connector is the item that causes the problems, they just don't explain how to make it fit.
