I got an estimate of $400 labor for installing forward controls, chrome gear cover, trans sprocket cover, primary chain inspection cover, derby cover, inner&outer rocker boxes. I have a 07 883xl. I know it's alot of work but also alot of cash. Does $400 sound fair?
Dealers I have dealt with around here (central PA) charged a labor rate of $54 an hour, which would mean they are saying all of that is 8 hours of work.
Or they are charging more than that per hour, either way sounds high to me.
He said : "that's a day job".. My father in-law owns a transmission shop and has worked on bikes in the past and he doesn't want to touch it. LOL. I think the dealer may be making up for me not buying the parts from him.. I have drag bars and v&h exhaust on the way, I will be doing them myself. The rocker boxes is what kept me from trying to do it myself.
It's all easy stuff! Do you have a service manual? you also have a hell of a support group here! I don't trust the monkey's at the dealerships at all!!!!!
Have confidence in yourself, you also get to ride with pride when you do it yourself!
