Hi, I am new today and am trying to decide between a 1200R and 1200N. Actually the one I want is the XR1200 that is being made for Europe but I guess I can't get one here. I have several other bikes but never a Harley. I decided to do my part to make the HD stock price go up. I was concerned about cornering clearance. In the specs, the Nightster will lean 30 degrees and the Roadster 32. I have not measured my Multistrada or Bonnevilleor the Ural with a sidecar but I drag stuff fairly often. I can't straddle the R flat footed but it is lower than the Multistrada and I like the dual disks in front. The Nightster looks great. I would appreciate any thoughts. I am really looking forward owning a Harley.
Well... FWIW, the 1200N will drag stuff if you even *think* about leaning. So if tight, fast cornering is a requirement... ya may wanna look at the R...
If you're thinking of an R, don't buy a Nightster. The standards (like mine) have the most in common clearance wise.
I've heard the XR1200 may indeed be coming here, so you may want to wait till the 09 announcement to make your decision.

Should be soon they have to submit to CARB before they go on sale, then we will know if the XR1200 will be here or not but i figure thats why the 1200R is being cut, to make room for the R1200.
I agree with schumacher on this one, wait till the 09 info is released, it should be very soon(CARB). At the latest july in the dealer show in vegas.
yeah man.. I don't usually recommend people waiting till the next model year to buy a bike, as you lose all the chances to ride till then...but....if you want the xr1200, i'd hold off to see if they have it in 09.
