Well it depends on your setup. Give us a list of what you have done to your 1200. In my opinion tuning is worth the money to make sure your bike is running correctly. Especially if you have a lot of work done. Make sure your dealerships dyno gives you an air/fuel ratio. Dyno's are useless without it. It allows you to see what your engine is doing all along the RPM range and can tell you where you can make improvements, if any. Do it. It's fun to see and hear your bike reved out and it gives you a solid number you can tell people if they ask.

I have my dyno test done at a local indy($40) when I did my AC and exhaust, the result showed that I need a bigger main jet, replace the main jet with a 185, it ran good since then. I have seen many people doing rejet without a dyno test, if it doesn't cost you arms and legs, give it a shot. Remember one thing, the test will give you a rough idea how it runs, it may vary a bit when you hit the road, multiple dyno tests may require for fine tuning, good luck!

should get something....

...But I feel dynos are much more important on the FI models[ just a couple/few metering systems vs. F/a mixtures for just about every RPM range......B

I did a baseline on my 05 Sporty before I started any of the Stage 1 mods - it was actually surprising to see where the motor was at before all the add on's / tuning. I finished all the work and plan on going back to have a final dyno run done.
The cost was minimal - $45, and I consider it money well spent. It is one thing to base the modifications success on "seat of the pants" feel and quite another to see the actual entire power curve / torque curve. The dyno in my crotch tells me I was successful - but I want hard data.
Go for it.

I agree. It's nice to have a baseline and see "hard data" results of any mods. For instance, here were my before & after numbers (after the dyno tune and a few upgrades):

Dyno Results;
Before Tune Max Power =69.73
After Tune Max Power = 76.16

Before Tune Max Torque = 69.05
After Tune Max Torque = 74.54
