Default 1200 tank aluminum piece.....
The 1200 xlc I just picked up has an ugly polished aluminum piece that goes down the tank like a tank bib.....it makes the bike look cheap in my opinion with all of the chrome....how can I take it off and will it leave marks? What are my options and thanks for your help.

according to the service manual, it comes off with fishing line under it and the remaining adhesive wil need to be cleaned off with a safe solvent.

you can order the chrome piece....i may in the future but ive got my aluminum piece pretty damn shiney and it looks good. didnt look 100% when i got it

blue magic metal polish - made mine look like chrome, i wanted to chuck myself ar first, now no chance

i used some mothers metal polish and then waxed it when i detailed the bike.....really need some zaino for my firehawk...when i bite the bullet on that ill have to give the bike a treatment

Thanks!!&nbsp\\; Now I have some options.&nbsp\\; I'll have to give this a try.&nbsp\\; As someone said earlier - it looks cheap with that gold haze!!
