Went out to start my 2008 883C today. I've had it since Feb, 19, 3,400 miles on it. I turn on the key, turn on the "run" switch, I can hear the fuel pump spraying. It starts up, runs 1-2 seconds and shuts off, fuel pump sprays again, try again and it does the same thing. Over and over and over.
 \\;
I've put on Vance and Hines Straight Shots, Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage 1, and a PCIII. I took the PCIII out of the loop and the bike still does the same thing.
 \\;
Dealer says they will look at it under warranty but can not get to it until Friday. Talked to service department on the phone they said it sound like it could be a fuel pressure issue. It deffinitly sounds like something electronic. The ironic thing is a guy I know had the exact same thing happen to his 2008 Nightster today a few hours before I did.
 \\;
Anybody have any ideas what it could be?? Dealer says if it's something I have caused by putting the stuff on it that I would be charged. I'm willing to bet a paycheck that it is nothing I have done.
 \\;
Anyone having the same problem???
Check back a week or so ago about someone posting this problem. Fuel pump relay or fuel pressure relay or something like that. They say the memory is the first thing to go.....[sm=confused06.gif]
My relays are corroded, the other guy I talked to who is having the same problem also says his are corroded. Would that be enough to cause the problem?
 \\;
I can't find the other post about this.
this is a known problem with sportsters. i have a 07 and took my bike to the stealer 4 times before they figured it out. changed the battery a couple of times. for some reason water runs over the fuse \\; block when you are ridingin the rain or washing it. the dealer got a notice of what ever theycall it from harley and it said to clean the block out and grease all the fuses and relays. i got mine cleaned up and its been working fine for a while but i don't ride in the rain much and pay special \\;attention when i am washing her. my problem was more electrical though. but i had all kinds of crap not working when my stuff was coroded. \\; \\;
I appreciate your help. I'll change the relays and hope that fixes it so I don't have to take it to the dealer and wait a week to get it back. I was unaware that sportsters were known for this.
This is why I love this forum. \\; I've not had any problems with my bike, but I'm going to have to keep a notebook of problems and solutions I've found on here in case my friends or I ever do have an issue.
