I gotta go with hotlap on this one. BOTH parties should have been able to see that it was just a stick-on medallion. One person was selling without knowledge, and one person was buying without knowledge.
 \\;
And \\;the dealerships just love both of those types of people.
So I bought it. \\;\\\\\\; Last night, I got home (Tampa) and opened the paqckage, and discovered that it is only the top part of the cap. \\;\\\\\\; The underneath side is covered with several pieces of double-sided sponge tape. \\;\\\\\\; There were no directions, but I guess I am supposed to just stick it on top of my existing cap. \\;\\\\\\; If this is typical of Harley parts quality and dealer honesty I am VERY concerned. \\;\\\\\\; I feel that this is a shoddy product and that the salesman flat lied to me. \\;\\\\\\; [:@]
I \\;love it when people make statements, and call other people stupid, when they have no idea what they are talking about! \\; Thanks guys! \\; FYI, the package was sealed plastic and \\;the bottom half of the cap was covered in paper packaging. \\; In addition, the package \\;WAS thick enough to include the threads - \\;but just barely. \\;That is why I asked the salesman. \\; Did it ever occur to any of you guys to confirm your assumptions \\;before you call someone stupid? \\; Ever hear the old warning to \\;never ASSUME, because it makes an *** out of U and ME? \\; For that matter, I can't imagine calling someone "stupid" for for failing to meansure a part in a sealed package, if they relied on a salesman's answer. \\; Or do you work for the dealership? \\;
Should I have opened the package and confirmed it was right? \\; In hindsight, of course! \\; But I relied on the salesman to be honest - that includes telling me if he was not sure. \\; Now I am across the state, and can't just pop into the dealership.
If he told you it was the whole cap and your not happy with just a stick on decoration I would take it back. Let them know thats not what you wanted. \\; \\; I saw those also and was a little confused at first that people but this stuff. \\; \\; To each his own. \\; \\; Ride safe.
Sorry Steve, \\;\\\\\\;I didnt mean you were stupid as such, just that there is some responsibility on your own part to make sure what you are buying is really what you want, particularly when you are so far from home.
I bought one of these kuryakyn caps, good quality and it looks great. https://www.dreamcycles.net/onlinest...PRODUCT_ID=102

cant seem to get the link to work, I will try a pic instead, it is the flush mount aero style.
Thanks for the apology, Hotlap - I guess I was feeling a little too sensitive - it must be that time of the month! \\; <\\;wink>\\; \\; I was mad at myself for trusting the guy, and not taking the time to open the package. Maybe I should use JB Weld on it.
