Quick tip oil change Nightster/Sportster

Did my first Nightster oil change yesterday. Due to the potential mess the filter can cause, I put a piece of cardboard under the filter then drilled a 1/4" hole in the bottom of the filter as you look at it, &nbsp\\;and a hole just abouve that one for venting. Let the oil run out, down the cardboard and into the pan. When I spun the filter off, there was no oil in it to run get on the bike. Very clean and very easy. Dan

Never thought of using a drill.&nbsp\\; I&nbsp\\;do the same thing, but just with a phillips head screw driver, and a 3 pound hammer.

Good idea, but I have a reusable oil filter.

I have done the cardboard thing many times, Works great. There's only alittle oil in the filter , you'll always get alittle oil where ya don't want it no matter what ya do. I always give her a bath after oil changes anyway.
