Just from what I have been told from another Harley buddy of mine. He has had several friends that bought '07 Sporties, most if not all of them have had a simular problem and Harley had to rebuild their motors and replace the heads with the '08 heads. Something about not enough oil getting to the top of the engine. Like I said this is coming from someone else. Just thought I'd pass it on. Not exactly sure what would be different in the two.

My 08 is also loud. I doubt that changing the heads would help but I'm no mekanik.
I know with my '06, I started experiencing that. \\; Then I noticed that I was losing power when the bike was hot. \\; Turned out to be the valve guides along with weak springs. \\; Do a leak down test when she's hot and that will tell you if your case is similar to mine.
noise is ok but hearing your rockers tapping is not! ROcker bushing tend to wear and you will hear the click, i will tell your what i was told... add a bit of lucas oil treatement (about 20 oz) and your sound will be gone! do it i am telling you it is amazing... sportys are rubber mounted that is the only reason they make more noise than a counterbalanced motor, but they should not be clicking and clanking... also check to make sure your exhaust is tight and your breather bolts are tight on your A/C... when those loosen up it will have the same effect. if you are still worried about it. get a long screw driver put the busness end against the motor and the handle to your ear... i know it sounds crazy but it works! it will let you hear what is oging on inside your motor without having to tear it down... all the sportys i have had/worked on did make a bit of noise but where by no means NOISY... noisy motors mean something is not tight or seated propperly... use the lucas additive it is heaven sent!
