"Shift to neutral before stopping engine. Shifting mechanism can be damaged by shifting gears while engine is stopped."
I usually shut down my bike when it's in first, then put it in neutral if I have to nudge it somewhere. Also, I thought I was supposed to put my bike in some gear while parked, how am I supposed to put in in gear if the manual says "don't shift when engine is stopped?"
I guess I will shut down in neutral from now on. Is this a routine that most use?
I always have it in neutral before shutting down unless I'm on a steep grade, then I leave it in first and restart in first with the clutch pulled in that way I don't have to shift gears without the engine running.
I do shift to neutral, not because of the manual, that way I don't start the motor in gear next morning. It is always a good idea to leave it in gear while park, let the clutch off after the engine is completely stopped.
I always put her In neutral with the engine running when stopping.....also when stopped at lights. When starting her, even If the neutral light Is on,I always pull the clutch...just to be on the safe side.
I always shut it off in gear. It takes a few more seconds to steal if the thief has to find neutral to roll the bike. Plus less likely to roll off of the kickstand.
