Speedometer malfunction

After not riding for a week (due to Tropical Storm Faye), my electronic speedo will not register over 35mph. Has anyone ever seen such a malfunction?

One fix would be to pull the speed sensor and wipe the metal shavings off of it. The sensor is magnetic and can accumulate metal shavings.

It could be from all the moisture where you are at. Mine's done that quite a few times in the past usually after washing it, moisture somewhere in the system. I just pull over, shut it down including turning the key off, and then re-fire it & it's back to normal. Could be the same with yours.

thanks for the tips. I am at work right now so hopefully afterwards when I get ready to go it will work fine. I live in Central Florida so I often ride home in the rain so maybe it just got wet and due to the humidity hasn't dried. If not I'll be pulling the sensor out tonight.
